Studio recordings and mastering for a site-specific audiowalk

By Syndikat Gefährliche Liebschaften ⇗ together with Ömer Bayram and Mara May, in cooperation with the Kreismuseum Peine.
The turkish word gurbet in the title can’t be precisely translated, meaning much more than a foreign place or the feeling of homesickness.
For the 800th anniversary of the town of Peine in the German state of Lower Saxony, the artist collective Syndikat Gefährliche Liebschaften produced an audiowalk with a diverse cast of speakers who originally moved from Turkey. They tell us about life around Peine’s steelworks or the «gurbet türküleri», Turkish songs about longing and living in a foreign place.
Conceived to be a little over 3 km walk and a little over an hour long, the piece is embedded below and available on the free Guidemate ⇗ mobile apps.
